Town have sent signed first team shirts to their football compatriots in Ipswich, Queensland to help with fundraising after the Australian state was affected by flooding last month. The Ipswich Knights and the Ipswich City Bulls clubs were both hit by the floods in the run up to the start of their season on 5th March.

Camilla Haycock, Town’s media and PR manager, said: "We contacted the Australian clubs last month to offer any assistance we could from so far away and we settled upon sending out a signed shirt to each of them.”

Bradley Munts from the Ipswich Knights says his club has been greatly affected by the flooding: "Our playing fields and clubhouse were completely inundated by the recent flood event and at a time of year when pre-season training has commenced and preparations were underway for the 2011 season, the flood has had an enormous impact upon the club.”

Dan Burnell from the Ipswich City Bulls thanked the Blues: "It’s warming to receive your offer of support in our time of need. Many of our local lads keenly follow Town’s results, and a few even spent time at Portman Road recently.

"I’m absolutely positive that the shirts from Ipswich Town FC will generate a lot of interest and will be raffled off to help ease some of the financial burdens we now face.

"Our supporters will get a real buzz from seeing what they’re contributing towards as it’s not often we get the chance to see signed football shirts from the Motherland!”
