U18s Face Charlton at Home - Ipswich Town News

Town’s U18s are in action at home to Charlton on Saturday morning (KO 11am). The young Blues will be looking to go on a decent run after beating Fulham 3-2 in a rearranged game last weekend.

The U18s also beat the Addicks 3-2 in the match between the sides at their Sparrows Lane training ground in November, Northern Ireland U21 international Caolan Lavery, who is still out with the knee ligament injury he suffered later that month, scoring twice.

Charlton's academy manager Steve Avory says he likes games against Town: "I always enjoy playing Ipswich. You know Ipswich have got the right approach, as we do, to the game. They look to build from the back. Essentially, it's short passing and they like to keep the ball.

"I think they can be rightly proud of some of the players they have brought through. Connor Wickham appears to be the latest high profile one, and of course Darren Bent, a player Charlton fans know well, was also a youth product there.

"We played them just before Christmas when by all accounts it was a good game, a fairly even game."

U18s squad: Cody Cropper, Callum Bennett, Josh Meekings, Rory McKeown, Joe Whight, Cormac Burke, Elliot Scotcher, Aaron Jones, Carel Tiofack, Josh Carson, Jack Simmons, Jide Maduako, David October, Lewis Acott, Tom Winter, Byron Lawrence.
