Wickham First Into International Action - Ipswich Town News
Striker Connor Wickham will be the first of the 10 Town players away on international duty to get into action when England’s U19s face Germany at Chesterfield’s new B2net Stadium this evening (MUTV 7.15pm). Loan defender Darren O’Dea will be amongst the subs when the Republic of Ireland take on Wales in their first Carling Nations Cup game at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin (Sky Sports One/HD1 7.30pm).
Wickham has previously won three U19 caps, scoring one goal, and made his U21 debut in November, also in a match against Germany.
O’Dea has three full caps for the Republic of Ireland, who will give former Blue Jon Walters his first full international start this evening. Walters, now with Stoke, won his first and so far only cap as a half-time sub in November’s 2-1 friendly defeat to Norway.
Town’s other eight call-ups will be hoping to add to their international caps tomorrow evening.
