Tamás Priskin and Márton Fülöp each played for 45 minutes as Hungary beat Azerbaijan 2-0 in Dubai this evening. Elsewhere, Gareth McAuley and Northern Ireland lost to Scotland and Troy Brown and Josh Carson faced one another in an U21 friendly.
Priskin started, winning his 31st cap, and was replaced a the break having been unable to add to his eight international goals. Fülöp played the second half and won his 23rd.
Gareth McAuley was at centre-half and played the full 90 minutes for Northern Ireland as they lost their first Carling Nations Cup match 3-0 to Scotland in Dublin. It was the former Leicester and Lincoln man’s 26th appearance for his country.
Town assistant manager Chris Hutchings has spent the last couple of days in the Irish capital watching the tournament’s two games.
Elsewhere, Troy Brown played the full 90 minutes and won his second cap as the Wales U21s beat academy midfielder Josh Carson and Northern Ireland's U21s 2-0 at Wrexham.
Carson was making his first start for the Northern Irish youngsters - his one previous cap having been from the bench - and played the first 45 minutes before being replaced.
