Jewell: I\'d Not Even Heard of Luca - Ipswich Town News
Town boss Paul Jewell admits that he'd never heard of Argentinian midfielder Luciano Civelli until he took over at Portman Road last month. The 24-year-old returned to action after 23 months out on Saturday when he came on as a late sub in the Blues' 3-0 victory over Sheffield United.
Jewell said: "I’d never seen him play until I came here. To be brutally honest I’d never heard of him because he’d been out for two years, although he was telling me he’d been fit for the last four or five months, he was just out of the picture.
"It’s a work in progress with him because he’s gaining confidence in his fitness and getting games under his belt is something he hasn’t done for two years.
"He’s got a good attitude, Luca, and like every other player here, they’re doing their best and working hard and I’m really enjoying working with them.
"As long as the effort remains the same, I’ll always be able to put up with people’s mistakes.”
Civelli looks likely to be amongst the subs at Barnsley on Saturday.
