Town manager Paul Jewell has revealed that he is looking to add “one or two” loanees to his squad before the weekend. The Blues boss was giving no hints on their identities but one is likely to be a central midfield player with skipper David Norris sidelined and loan signing Jimmy Bullard unavailable against his parent club Hull City on Saturday.
Jewell said: "I’m trying to get one or two in for the weekend. I can’t say too much because it might not happen, but hopefully by Thursday I’ll be able to tell you.
"We’re looking at loans and trying see what’s about, not just for this Saturday but I think it’s important not to think that we’ve already got our squad because we didn’t bring in too many in the transfer window.”
Jewell says he expects no immediate exits, aside from some of the youngsters: "I’m not looking to get anybody out, other than perhaps one or two kids that we’ll look to get out to get some experience somewhere, but no one around the first team will be going anywhere, unless they express a desire to go and it suits us, but we’re not looking for that.”
The Blues boss says there is nothing in weekend claims that Derby have expressed an interest in defender Damien Delaney: "They must have expressed it to someone else because they haven’t expressed it to me!”
Meanwhile, reserves coach Chris Kiwomya was spotted watching Barnet’s 3-0 home loss to Torquay at Underhill on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues have previously been linked with Gulls’ defender Mark Ellis, who was on the bench throughout, while 20-year-old winger Eunan O'Kane was mentioned in connection with a move to a higher division during January.
New Town coach Sean McCarthy will be aware of Torquay’s players having been based in Devon prior to joining his former Bradford team-mate Jewell at Portman Road last month.
