Town Target Villa Defender Beye - Ipswich Town News
Town are understood to be interested in taking Aston Villa right-back Habib Beye on loan. The 33-year-old is out of favour at Villa Park having made only 14 starts and two sub appearances since he joined them from Newcastle in the summer of 2009.
The French-born Senegal international last featured for Villa in the Carling Cup in October and has recently been training with the reserves.
Beye’s first English club was Newcastle United, who paid Marseille £2 million for the six-foot tall right-back or centre-half in August 2007. Prior to that he was with Paris St Germain and Strasbourg.
Yesterday, Blues boss Paul Jewell revealed that he was hoping to bring in "one or two” loan players before the end of the week with a right-back a not unlikely target with Carlos Edwards currently playing in what is an unfamiliar role.
