Jewell: Goals Main Area for Improvement - Ipswich Town News

Town boss Paul Jewell says he’s generally happy with the way the Blues are playing but says there is one aspect of his team’s play which particularly needs to improve — scoring goals. Despite scoring six times against Doncaster a week ago, Town were unable to turn their overall superiority into goals against Hull City on Saturday and in the first half at QPR on Tuesday.

Jewell said: "We played a lot of good football [at QPR] and for a large part of the game we were the better team, but we’ve got to turn that domination, that possession into chances and goals.

"I’m pleased with lots of aspects but I’m aware we need to improve on lots of aspects as well. Even if we win a game 6-0, like we did last week, we’re always asking and looking for better. We’ll always be pleased but never satisfied.

"I’m pleased with the way we’re playing, but I’m not pleased about us not scoring goals to kill teams off.”

Although Jewell says it’s not only down to the frontmen to score goals, the Blues boss has already said that he’ll be looking to add a 25-goal-a-season striker to his squad in the summer.
