Aston Villa striker Nathan Delfouneso is reported to have been one of the loan targets the Blues tried to land last week. Yesterday, Blues boss Paul Jewell revealed that two top flight players had turned down the chance to move to Portman Road last week.
Delfouneso, 20, came through the youth system at Villa Park, scoring a hat-trick against Town’s U18s in an FA Youth Cup tie in 2008.
The Birmingham-born frontman, who has won England caps at U16, U17, U19 and U21 levels, has made 10 starts and 30 sub appearances for Villa's first team, scoring eight goals.
Elsewhere, former Blue Nicky Forster has been named Brentford boss until the end of the season having impressed as caretaker-manager since Andy Scott’s exit last month. Forster currently has ex-Town midfielder George O’Callaghan on trial at Griffin Park.
