Clapham Likely to Make Way for McGreal - Ipswich Town News

The squad for the Leicester trip has been announced and looks likely that Jamie Clapham will return to the bench after a successful reserve outing for John McGreal. Hermann Hreidarsson will switch to left back.

Up front George Burley has many options. Alun Armstrong, Pablo Counago or Richard Naylor could all partner Marcus Stuart. My money is with Bam Bam but hopefully the unpopular decision of moving Finidi up front in the last game against Charlton won’t be repeated.

The squad: Matteo SERENI, Keith BRANAGAN, Mike SALMON, Chris MAKIN, Hermann HREIDARSSON, Jamie CLAPHAM, Titus BRAMBLE, Mark VENUS, John MCGREAL, Wayne BROWN, Matt HOLLAND, Jim MAGILTON, Jermaine WRIGHT, Martyn REUSER, Finidi GEORGE, Marcus STEWART, Richard NAYLOR, Alun ARMSTRONG, Pablo COUNAGO, Darren BENT and Sixto PERALTA.

In Leicester, all the talk is of Harry Redknapp returning to management at the expense of Peter Taylor. The foxes have a very poor record so far this year. Played two, lost two, goals for: zero, goals against: nine! A poll from the Leicester Rivals sites says that 50% want Taylor to walk now, 37% want to give him more time, and only 13% are happy.

It doesn’t look good for them for team news either. While Scowie is fit, City have Izzet doubtful (ankle), Impey (knee), Davidson (knee), Sturridge (hamstring), Oakes (shin) with Gunnlaugsson (thigh) and Benjamin (calf) having late tests. Add to that list the long term injured of former Canary Darren Eadie with a knee injury, Gerry Taggart (knee) and Garry Rowett. Dennis Wise is suspended after he was sent off against Arsenal. Things don’t look too promising for the Foxes, and Town must take full advantage.
