Smith\'s Shirt Up for Auction to Raise Funds for New Zealand Quake Appeal - Ipswich Town News

The Blues have put one of New Zealand international defender Tommy Smith’s Town shirts up for auction to raise funds for the Red Cross's New Zealand Earthquake Appeal. Blues supporter Phil Coppeard was among those who died in last month’s quake.

Town’s media and PR manager Camilla Haycock said: "When we heard that Phil was amongst the missing in Christchurch after the terrible earthquake last month, our thoughts immediately went out to Phil's wife Sue.

"Asking Tommy to donate his shirt and getting the lads to sign it so that we could auction it off on the club's eBay site struck us as a great way to raise funds for the earthquake appeal."

The hard to obtain match shirt has been signed on the front by Tommy and 21 members of the squad and has the npower and Football League badges plus Smith and his number 20 on the back. It is long sleeved and size large.

It is sold with a photo of Tommy Smith, who played for New Zealand at last summer's World Cup, with the shirt and a squad picture showing player autographs so you can see who signed where on this special shirt.

You can make your bid here. Alternatively, make a donation to the Red Cross's New Zealand Earthquake Appeal here.
