TWTD understands that former Blue Kieron Dyer has sensationally rejoined Town on a month’s loan from West Ham. The former England international will go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s game at Leeds.
Ipswich-born Dyer, 32, came through the youth ranks at Portman Road and broke into the first team under George Burley’s management, making 104 starts and 13 sub appearances, scoring 14 goals before moving to Newcastle for £6.5 million.
Having won caps at U20 and U21 level with the Blues and having been in senior England squads during his time at Portman Road, Dyer eventually made his full international debut when a Magpies player and went on to win 33 caps.
Injuries hampered Dyer’s career at St James’ Park and have continued to do so since he joined West Ham in the summer of 2007 for £6 million, limiting him to only 17 starts and 18 sub appearances for the Hammers.
Town are certain to be paying only a small percentage of Dyer’s wages, which are understood to be £83,000-a-week.
The midfielder, whose West Ham contract is up in the summer, was asked about the possibility of a future return to Portman Road when he was back at his old club for a pre-season friendly last summer: "I don’t believe in comebacks, but you never know, you never know!”
