Ramsey Inducted into Hall of Fame - Ipswich Town News

Sir Alf Ramsey was inducted into Town’s Hall of Fame at last night’s players’ reunion dinner at Portman Road. England’s 1966 World Cup boss received a special merit award, as did his 1961/62 championship-winning Blues side, while six players were added to the Hall of Fame’s ranks.

Doug Moran, Andy Nelson, John Compton and the late Roy Bailey all played for Ramsey, while Russell Osman and Paul Mariner from Sir Bobby Robson’s squad joined them in the club’s Hall of Fame. Many of the ex-players at last night's event will be at Portman Road for today’s game against Crystal Palace.

The Hall of Fame was started in 2007 and previous inductees are Mick Mills, Ted Phillips, Ray Crawford, John Wark, John Elsworthy, Frans Thijssen, Kevin Beattie, Jimmy Leadbetter, George Burley, Arnold Muhren, Billy Baxter, Allan Hunter, Sir Bobby Robson, former managers’ secretary Pat Godbold, Roy Stephenson, Larry Carberry, Terry Butcher, Cyril Lea, Roger Osborne, Tommy Parker and ex-chairman John Cobbold.
