Town Boss to Set Contract Deadline - Ipswich Town News
Town manager Paul Jewell plans to set a deadline by which time he wants to hear back from the senior players who have been offered new contracts. Gareth McAuley, Damien Delaney, Brian Murphy and Colin Healy are all weighing up new terms, while the Blues boss has been looking to talk further with skipper David Norris’s agent.
Jewell said: "I think we’re going to have to put a deadline on it this week. I know where the players are coming from, they were left a long time not knowing whether they were getting deals or not.
"If the answer’s a no, which I genuinely hope it’s not, I need to start moving forward on getting other people in.
"I’d love all the players to stay that we’ve asked to stay and add new players on top of that. That’s the ideal situation.”
