Norris Talks Continue - Ipswich Town News
Boss Paul Jewell says he spoke to skipper David Norris regarding his new contract again yesterday, having talked to his agent last week. The Blues manager says the club is continuing to work on securing the 30-year-old's signature.
Jewell said: "I spoke to Chuck’s agent on Thursday and I spoke to Chuck yesterday and we’re trying to get something done.
"If we can, great, if we can’t, then at the end of the day this football club will still be here long after I’ve gone and anyone else has gone. But saying that we want to keep them here, are desperate to keep them here.
"However, if we don’t, we’ll have to learn from our mistakes - we’ve left ourselves vulnerable to this situation.”
Like Gareth McAuley, who has now agreed terms but not yet signed, Norris turned down a contract before Christmas as he wanted a three-year deal not the two seasons on offer.
Portsmouth and Crystal Palace targeted the midfielder in January and Pompey and a number of other Championship clubs are believed to be interested in signing the former Plymouth man in the summer when he becomes a free agent.
