Blues chief scout Steve McCall was spotted at Brisbane Road this afternoon watching Leyton Orient beat Peterborough United 2-1.
Town boss Paul Jewell was previously seen running the rule over Posh a day after being confirmed as manager at Portman Road in January.
Peterborough striker Craig Mackail-Smith and midfielder George Boyd were the most likely targets, while keeper Joe Lewis has also been linked with a switch to a higher division.
