Carson Gets First Full Northern Ireland Call - Ipswich Town News

Midfielder Josh Carson has received his first call-up to the Northern Ireland senior squad. The 17-year-old has previously won caps at U17, U19 and U21 levels.

Nigel Worthington, a regular visitor to Portman Road this season, has included the Antrim-born youngster in his party for the Carling Nations Cup games against the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday 24th May and Wales on Friday 27th May, both at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin. Exiting Town defender Gareth McAuley is also in the squad.

Carson is also included in the Northern Ireland U21 squad for their European Championship qualifier against the Faroe Islands on Tuesday 31st May.

Defender Rory McKeown, who has been released by the Blues at the end of his academy scholarship, and striker Caolan Lavery, whose spell as a scholar has been extended until October due to his time out with a knee injury this term, are on standby for the U21 squad.
