Hull Targeting Norris - Ipswich Town News

Hull City have emerged as new contenders for the signature of departing Town skipper David Norris. Previously Nottingham Forest, Leeds, Wigan, Crystal Palace and Portsmouth were understood to be the clubs competing for the 30-year-old midfielder, who has told the Blues he will be leaving Portman Road this summer having been unable to agree a new contract.

Norris previously spent time on loan with the Tigers while a Bolton player in 2002, making three starts and three sub appearances, scoring one goal.

Meanwhile, Palace boss Dougie Freedman says his club is unlikely to be successful in their attempt to land the former Plymouth man, having made an £800,000 offer for Norris and Damien Delaney earlier in the year: "I tried in January and I would like to try again.

"But he may be too much for us financially. He is a player I admire and football-wise I'd love to have him, but I won't do anything that may damage the club further down the line. As it stands I would say that we have a 10 per cent chance of getting him to join us."

Elsewhere, Town are again linked with West Brom striker Simon Cox, who the Baggies may be willing to allow to leave if they sign Andy Johnson from Fulham. Blues boss Paul Jewell made unsuccessful loan moves for Cox during the season when he said he could look at the 24-year-old's situation again in the summer.

Jewell was back at his old club Wigan today watching the Latics beat West Ham 3-2 and relegate the Hammers to the Championship.
