Conway Only Link On Quiet Sunday - Ipswich Town News

Out-of-contract Dundee United winger Craig Conway appears to be the only name linked with Town in today’s papers. A Scottish report claims SPL giants Rangers are set to make an offer to the 26-year-old, who was previously mentioned in connection with the Blues in March and is already said to have been approached by Crystal Palace and Watford.

It's believed that Town are yet to firm up their interest in Irvine-born Conway, who started his career at Ayr United. He made his senior debut in the 2003 season before going on to make 56 starts and 17 sub appearances for the Somerset Park club, scoring nine goals.

The 5ft 6in tall wideman moved on to Dundee United at the end of his contract in June 2006 and has subsequently made 133 starts and 32 appearances from the bench, scoring 16 goals, including two in last season’s 3-0 Scottish Cup final victory over Ross County.

Primarily right-sided but happy on either flank, Conway, who has won two full Scotland caps, appears certain to leave Dundee United this summer. The Blues have also been linked with Terrors striker David Goodwillie.

Elsewhere, Hull City are claimed to have pulled out of the race to sign exiting Town skipper David Norris on a free transfer this summer as they believe Portsmouth have already secured the 30-year-old’s signature.

The Tigers were understood to be amongst the favourites to land the midfielder along with Nottingham Forest and Leeds with Portsmouth believed to be more of an outside bet along with Crystal Palace, despite those two clubs having targeted the former Plymouth man since January.

Meanwhile, former Town loanee Gianni Zuiverloon has confirmed that he'll be leaving West Brom this summer in order to play first team football more regularly.
