Town are once again being linked with a summer move for out-of-contract Portsmouth striker David Nugent. The Blues are also said to be keeping an eye on Cardiff frontman and long-time Roy Keane target Michael Chopra, while Doncaster are claimed to have put a £4 million price on striker Billy Sharp and midfielder James Coppinger.
Nugent, who has scored eight goals in eight games against the Blues and has netted in every match he has played at Portman Road, was a regular loan target of former boss Jim Magilton and was reported to be on Paul Jewell’s summer wish-list towards the end of last month.
Former Bury and Preston man Nugent, who was capped once by England, scored 14 goals during 2010/11.
The 25-year-old, who looks certain to be leaving Pompey during the close season, has also been mentioned in connection with QPR, Blackpool and Bolton.
Chopra was one of ex-Town boss Keane’s main targets last season but the club weren’t prepared to pay the Bluebirds' asking price.
The 27-year-old former Sunderland and Newcastle frontman, who is contracted to Cardiff until 2012, scored 11 goals in 28 starts and 11 sub appearances during 2010/11 despite suffering one or two injuries.
Meanwhile, Doncaster want £4 million for Town targets Billy Sharp and James Coppinger, according to one tabloid report. The Blues' £2.6 million offer for the duo was turned down just over a week ago.
Elsewhere, Leicester are reported to have made a £1 million offer for Sheffield United striker Ched Evans, who was also recently linked with Town.
