Sunderland Enter Westwood Race - Ipswich Town News

Town’s chances of signing out-of-contract Coventry keeper Keiren Westwood appear increasingly slim with Sunderland reported to have joined the race for the Irish international’s signature.

The Blues already faced reported competition from Everton, Leicester City and Celtic, and Steve Bruce is now said to have begun talks with the 26-year-old. Current Black Cats keeper Craig Gordon has undergone knee surgery and is out for the first three months of the season.

Aston Villa are also now claimed to be eyeing the former Carlisle man, who seems certain to be leaving the Ricoh Arena this summer.

Elsewhere, former Blues loanee Giovani Dos Santos has said he wants to stay with his current loan club Racing Santander. Spurs are happy to allow the Mexican international to leave but the La Liga side might struggle to pay the £6 million fee agreed as part of the terms of his loan.
