Preston: We Want to Keep Treacy - Ipswich Town News

Preston chairman Maurice Lindsay says his club want to hold on to reported Town target Keith Treacy for next season’s League One promotion campaign. One of this morning’s papers claimed the 22-year-old would join the Blues when he returns from international duty next week.

But Lindsay says the former Blackburn man is amongst those the Lilywhites want to keep as they look to return to the Championship at the first attempt: "We will only be letting players go if it suits us.

"I would be totally against Keith Treacy leaving, he is such an exciting player on the ball and can be a prolific goalscorer from the wing when he’s on form.”

Treacy himself has said he’s not keen on life in the third tier: "I want to play at the highest level I possibly can.

"I feel maybe the Championship, or the Premiership at a push, would be ideal for me. I think I’m a little bit better than League One, if I’m being honest.”

Preston were previously reported to have turned down an £800,000 bid for the £1 million-rated Treacy from Burnley, while Nottingham Forest have also been linked.
