Lambe Hoping to Win Bristol Rovers Deal - Ipswich Town News

Released winger Reggie Lambe says he is hoping to be offered a permanent contract at Bristol Rovers, where he spent the final few weeks of the season on loan. The 20-year-old was told he would not be offered new terms at Town at the end of the campaign.

Lambe said: "I’m hoping to get a deal with Bristol Rovers, I really enjoyed my time there and would like to move there permanently.

"They didn’t really have a manager in place but that’s been sorted now [with former Torquay boss Paul Buckle having been appointed], so I’m waiting to see what happens. I expect they will be talking to my agent within the next two weeks and I’m hoping they offer me something.”

The Bermudian international had hoped his one start and six sub appearance spell in the West Country would enhance his prospects of staying at Portman Road: "I went out on loan to Bristol Rovers hoping it would boost my chances of getting another contract with Ipswich, but it wasn’t to be.

"[Paul Jewell] was excellent when he informed of his decision and spoke to me very respectfully. He told me what I needed to improve and I really appreciate that.”

Lambe, who made four Carling Cup starts and two Championship sub appearances while with the Blues, says he has received interest from elsewhere: "There have been other offers.

"I haven’t turned a blind eye to them but I want to see what happens with Rovers first. My agent’s sorted everything out for me and I should know more in the next two weeks.”

The wideman, who was first introduced to the academy by an associate of former director Holly Bellingham, has spent the summer with the Bermuda Hogges but won’t be involved in any games while back on his home island: "I’ve been training with the Hogges to keep myself fit, but there’s only two home games left before I head back to the UK so it wouldn’t really be worth playing for them.”

Meanwhile, QPR have confirmed the release of right-back Pascal Chimbonda, Paul Jewell’s former Wigan regular having been a Town target in January.

The 32-year-old former French international, who could well be in the Blues boss's thoughts again this summer, made only three sub appearances while at Loftus Road.

Elsewhere, Peterborough have revealed that they have accepted an offer from a Premier League side for striker Craig Mackail-Smith, who has been linked with the Blues on a number of occasions, although with Paul Jewell recently playing down his interest.

Norwich and QPR have also been mentioned as interested parties with Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony claiming that between eight and 11 clubs are chasing the former Dagenham and Redbridge man and that they have received two concrete offers.
