Dyer Linked With Mowbray\'s Boro - Ipswich Town News

Former Blue Kieron Dyer has been linked with Middlesbrough, where his one-time Town team-mate Tony Mowbray is manager. The 32-year-old has been released by West Ham with Blues boss Paul Jewell having said he could be interested in signing the former England man permanently this summer after taking him on loan for a month late in the season.

Reports in the North-East claim Dyer’s representatives have held preliminary talks with Boro to gauge their interest in the former England man.

Even if Mowbray is keen on taking Dyer back to the North-East, where he previously played for Newcastle, the Teessiders might not be willing to risk too much of their budget on someone with such a track record of injury problems. Boro are looking to significantly reduce their wage bill, although a pay-as-you-play type deal has previously been mooted in relation to Dyer's possible return to Town.

Premier League Everton have also been mentioned in connection with a move for the midfielder, while there have been rumours of interest from clubs in the Middle East and Dyer has suggested the possibility of a move to the United States.
