Striker Connor Wickham, understood to have been the subject of an £8 million offer from Liverpool at the end of last week, was an unused sub as England’s U21s defeated Norway 2-0 in a friendly at Southampton this afternoon. Daniel Sturridge and Danny Rose netted the goals in the first half of the match, which was a warm-up ahead of the UEFA European U21 Championship in Denmark.
Stuart Pearce’s side take on Spain in their opening tournament group game on June 12th, Ukraine on June 15th and the Czech Republic on June 19th.
Regarding Liverpool’s widely reported offer. Town are keeping to their usual policy of not commenting on transfer speculation.
Meanwhile, chief executive Simon Clegg is representing the club at the Football League AGM in Cyprus.
