Pearce: Wickham Fine - Ipswich Town News
England U21s boss Stuart Pearce says Town striker Connor Wickham will be fine despite limping out of training at the UEFA European Championship in Denmark this morning. The Blues frontman was hurt when fairly challenged by Manchester United-bound defender Phil Jones, which led to the 18-year-old having ice applied to his ankle.
However, Pearce is confident that the problem is nothing serious: "It is precautionary more than anything.
"What we don't want to do is push someone out on a pitch and lose them for more days than we should. He will be fine."
Pearce’s side take on Spain on Sunday, Ukraine next Wednesday and the Czech Republic on the following Sunday in the group stages.
