Town continue to close in on the signing of Cardiff City striker Michael Chopra. As revealed by TWTD this morning, the 27-year-old was at Portman Road today to talk terms and to undergo a medical.
As of this evening, we understand that the deal is not yet complete but it’s likely that the former Sunderland and Newcastle man will be a Town player before the weekend with negotiations set to resume on Friday when he seems set to put pen to paper.
Town and Cardiff have agreed a £1.5 million fee for the former England U21 international with his agent Kenny Moyes confirming earlier today that his player is "keen” to join the Blues.
Meanwhile, we understand that Town are also continuing to talk to a number of other players regarding moves to Portman Road in addition to Chopra and Ivar Ingimarsson, who was also at the club today. Both chief executive Simon Clegg and manager Paul Jewell have been away from Town this week - Clegg at the Football League AGM in Cyprus - but this hasn't prevented them from continuing discussions with several parties.
Jewell is probably looking to make up to eight signings over the summer as he tries to build a more competitive squad for the season ahead.
