Jewell Confident Whight Will Sign - Ipswich Town News
Blues boss Paul Jewell says he’s unconcerned about reports linking Arsenal and Newcastle with 17-year-old left-back Joe Whight. The academy scholar is still to sign his two-year professional deal but the Town manager is confident he will do so when he returns for pre-season on June 29th.
Jewell said: "I agreed a contract with Joe and his mum and dad, but it hasn’t been signed yet and the only reason was that I was away and so was Joe.
"I’m not aware of any interest from Arsenal or Newcastle, so as far as I am concerned when we come back Joe will sign his contract and we will move on.”
Former Copleston High School pupil Whight enjoyed an impressive 2010/11 with the U18s and the reserves, leading Jewell to offer him a two-year contract in April.
