Jewell: Ellington Still Has the Hunger - Ipswich Town News

Boss Paul Jewell says new striker Nathan Ellington still has the hunger to succeed after a number of lean years with Watford. Ellington signed a two-year deal at Portman Road yesterday having been released by the Hornets at the end of the season.

Jewell said: "Nathan had a phenomenal goals record when I had him at Wigan. West Brom and Watford paid big money for him but he has lost his way a bit recently and his confidence has dropped.

"I had him on loan at Derby but we weren't winning games and it was difficult for everyone there at the time, but I know he can score goals at this level.

"We've got him on a free, he's 29, which is a good age, and he will improve the squad. He's good in the air, gives us something different and I'm delighted to have him.

"When we met up to talk about coming here, I looked into his eyes. I could see the hunger was there. The desire was back. I've got confidence in him. Now it's down to Nathan to show what he can do."
