Civelli Trapped By Volcano - Ipswich Town News
Town midfielder Luciano Civelli missed the first day of pre-season training at Playford Road yesterday because he was trapped at home in Argentina by a volcano. Ash from Chile's Puyehue volcano has caused the cancellation of all flights out of Buenos Aires.
Boss Paul Jewell said: "Luca’s stuck in Argentina because of the Chilean volcano. He can’t get his flight out of Argentina, so he’ll be here Monday.”
It’s not the first time a Town player has had volcano-related travel problems, former goalkeeper Brian Murphy having been stranded in Ireland by the Icelandic ash cloud a year ago.
Jewell also revealed that central defender Damien Delaney missed yesterday’s first session but is expected back soon: "Damien Delaney played so many games for us and for Ireland last season, we’ve been very generous and given him until Tuesday off.”
