Warnock Confirms Bullard Interest - Ipswich Town News

QPR boss Neil Warnock has confirmed his interest in former Town loanee Jimmy Bullard. Newly-promoted Rangers are understood to have spoken to the 32-year-old regarding a move, although Bullard’s current club Hull City said they had turned down a loan offer from the Warnock's side last week.

The former Sheffield United boss says he is looking to add to his squad, but won’t be paying players over the odds: "We are working hard to get value for money and I am trying to get players in on our wage structure which we have implemented for the Premier League.

"We have been linked with a lot of players. I have spoken to three or four personally, but we haven't been able to afford either the transfer fees or the wages.

"We are down the line with a couple. Jimmy Bullard is one of a number we are talking about. We need strikers and centre-halves. We need a number of positions filling. We would like to bring three or four good players in and I'm sure we will in the next few weeks."

Hull are keen to rid themselves of the two remaining years of Bullard’s £45,000-a-week contract and reportedly told QPR that they would only consider a loan if they were prepared to pay his entire wage while the one-time England call-up was at Loftus Road.

Elsewhere, Celtic assistant manager Johan Mjallby says another former Town loanee, Darren O’Dea, is likely to move on this summer having been left out of the Glasgow giants' pre-season trip to Australia: "We have Jos Hooiveld and Darren O'Dea back training in Glasgow so we have a few central defenders.

"We need to offload one or two. There is no point in having too many centre halves. We also have Mark Wilson who can play at centre half.”
