New Quartet In Squad But Ingimarsson Again Missing - Ipswich Town News

Town have confirmed that new signings Michael Chopra, Lee Bowyer, Aaron Cresswell and Nathan Ellington are all in the squad for this evening’s friendly against Cambridge United at the Abbey Stadium (KO 7.45pm). Icelandic defender Ívar Ingimarsson, however, remains on the sidelines.

The former Reading man picked up a thigh injury early in pre-season training and also missed the victories over Dutch sides FC Eindhoven and Den Bosch.

Cambridge boss Jez George is expecting his Blue Square Bet Premier side to be given a tough test: "I know Ipswich have got a number of games in a short period of time, but I expect them to bring a fairly strong team and that’s what we’ve prepared for.

"The tempo will be higher because they’ll move the ball quicker and that will be a really good workout for the squad as we won’t have as much of the ball as we did on Saturday.

"A lot of the work we’ve done so far has been with the ball because we needed to work on that respect from the end of last season and we’re trying to bed in a lot of that forward play.

"This will give us the chance to get the principles of defending right which are very important and look to get that team compactness and shape against better opposition than we’ll play against during the season.

"It will be hard work for us, but this is a good time for this game to come as we’re stepping things up over the next couple of weeks."

Town fans will be in the South Stand with seats costing £12 for adults, £8 for concessions and £4 for under-16s.
