Jewell is a Chopra Buff - Ipswich Town News

Striker Michael Chopra is an even better player than manager Paul Jewell thought when he signed him from Cardiff for £1.5 million earlier in the summer. The 27-year-old finally joined the Blues having previously been chased by his old Sunderland manager Roy Keane last summer.

Jewell says he has been impressed with what he’s seen of Chopra during the former England U21 international’s first few weeks at Portman Road: "He’s a terrific player Chopra, a better player than I actually thought.

"He’s got great movement, he’s quick, he can score a goal and he’s intelligent — on the pitch — so he’s got an awful lot going for him.”

The Blues boss will hope Chopra, who scored four times in pre-season, will continue his goalscoring form when the campaign proper starts at Bristol City tomorrow.
