Former Town star James Scowcroft has spoken about the sacking of Leicester manager Peter Taylor. Scowcroft played under Taylor for the England U21s and was signed by the ex-Spurs player in the summer.

Scowcroft said: "Personally I am very disappointed. He was a great chap to work for but he was under a lot of pressure right from the start of the season. It was important we got off to a good start, but it didn't quite happen and football being football this is the outcome."

Contrary to some reports Scowcroft says Taylor got on well with his players: "He was certainly very popular here with the players and I am very sad to see him on his way. I hope to get a proper chance to say farewell. If I can't do it personally I will certainly be on the phonbe to him to wish him all the best for the future.

Mixed results for Town's Academy sides at the weekend, although the U19s will be particularly impressed with their 2-1 victory at home to Arsenal. The U17s lost 4-0 away to the Gunners.

The U19s goals were an own goal and one from Darren Bent on a these days rare outing for the youngsters.
