Shotton Not On - Ipswich Town News

Town boss Paul Jewell appears to have played down the Blues’ chances of signing Stoke defender Ryan Shotton. Town and Burnley were reported to have made £1 million offers for the 22-year-old at the end of last week but the central defender or right-back was involved in the Potters’ squad for their weekend Premier League game against Chelsea.

While not confirming the identity of the player, Jewell appeared to indicate that Shotton was the man and that a deal is now unlikely: "On Thursday we spoke to the player and the club, and I see Sunday he was in the squad in the Premier League. He came on, so it's probably not [happening] now."

Shotton, who has also been linked with Derby, came on as an 86th minute sub during the 0-0 draw at the Britannia Stadium.
