Reserves Beat Luton - Ipswich Town News
Town’s reserves beat Luton 3-1 in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Playford Road this afternoon with Ronan Murray, Luke Hyam and Caolan Lavery on the scoresheet. The Blues’ second string withdrew from the Football Combination East Division at the end of last season and will play only friendlies during 2011/12.
Senior squad members Nathan Ellington, Andy Drury, Colin Healy and Jaime Peters were included in what was a strong reserves side, along with youngsters Joe Whight, Jamie Griffiths, Jide Maduako and Cody Cropper.
Murray opened the scoring when he seized on a blocked Ellington shot, Hyam headed home a header from a Jamie Griffiths cross and Lavery added the third after a one-two with Murray. Luton’s Dan Walker pulled one back towards the end.
Reserves: Cropper, O'Connor, Peters, Maduako, Whight; Drury, Hyam, Healy, Griffiths (Burke 65); Ellington (Lavery 65), Murray. Unused: Bennett and Thorsteinsson.
