Lansbury Was Targeted - Ipswich Town News
Blues boss Paul Jewell has revealed that Town targeted signing Arsenal midfielder Henri Lansbury on a permanent basis earlier in the summer. The 20-year-old former Scunthorpe, Watford and Norwich loanee ultimately joined West Ham on another loan spell last Wednesday, the final day of the transfer window.
Jewell said: "We went for the boy Lansbury in the summer and his agent wanted to see if he can give it a go at Arsenal.
"He was probably told late last Wednesday that he wouldn’t be in [Arsenal’s 25-man Premier League] squad. I understand that.
"If I was a player, I would want to give it every opportunity I could to play in the Premier League.”
