Danish Town Fan Auctions Signed Matt Holland Shirt for Plymouth - Ipswich Town News

Danish Town fan Torben Christensen is auctioning a home shirt signed by former Blues skipper Matt Holland to raise cash for crisis club Plymouth Argyle. The unworn shirt was signed by Holland at the pre-season friendly against Danish side Farum Boldklub in the summer of 2002.

Torben told TWTD why he is auctioning the shirt and giving the funds to the Pilgrims: "Although I’m not an Argyle supporter, I’m happy to contribute with this.

"Being a huge fan of English football in general, and Town in particular, it would be a great disappointment to see a club like Plymouth close its gates.”

You can see the shirt and make your bid here.

All cash will go to the Green Taverners, who are asking fans of other clubs to help them raise money by auctioning memorabilia.

TWTD user SouperJim has already raised £165 for them by auctioning a 2001/02 era shirt with Mark Venus’s name emblazoned across the back.

The auctions are just one aspect of supporter-led attempts to help in Plymouth's battle for survival. The Pilgrims’ home game against Macclesfield on Saturday 24th September has been declared Fans Reunited Day by Brighton supporters, keen to help out another club in return for the assistance they received from followers of teams around the country during their darkest hours at the end of the 1990s.

Back in 1997 the Seagulls staged the first ever Fans United Day when supporters of clubs, including Town, came along to their home game against Hartlepool United wearing their side’s colours to give them their backing and help raise funds.

To find out more about Fans Reunited Day, which coincides with Town’s visit to Middlesbrough, there is a webpage and a Facebook page, while more details can be found here. Follow developments regarding Fans Reunited on Twitter.

The latest details of the situation at Home Park can be found here, while Plymouth’s main forum PASOTI can be found here.
