Town boss Paul Jewell says he will sit down with goalkeeper-coach Malcolm Webster on Saturday afternoon to decide whether to take the club’s interest in on-trial West Ham keeper Marek Stech any further. On Monday, TWTD was first to reveal that the Czech U21 international was working with the squad at Playford Road.
Jewell said: "He’s not here with a view to anything specifically, just with a view to have a look at him really. West Ham have been very good and let us have a look at him.
"We’ll sit down with the goalie-coach tomorrow afternoon and see if we take it any further, simple as that.
"He’s done OK. He’s big, I think a couple of years ago everyone thought he was going to be West Ham’s number one but for whatever reason, I don’t know what, he just hasn’t kicked on. We’ve had a look at him closely and we’ll make a decision.”
Stech, who says he’s enjoying his time with Town, is currently fourth choice at Upton Park and is unlikely to play too many games this season, even for the reserves, while the Blues are on the lookout for cover for David Stockdale, whose loan from Fulham includes a 24-hour recall clause, and Arran Lee-Barrett.
