Town Summer Target in Cash Row - Ipswich Town News

Summer Town target James Henry is reportedly embroiled in a pay dispute with his club Millwall. The winger is claimed to want a 50% payrise and is said to be ready to hand in a transfer request.

The 22-year-old winger’s current contract, which runs until 2013, is worth £3,000-a-week but the one-time England U19 international is reported to want an increase to £4,500 with talks believed to have stalled.

Henry has recently been left amongst the Lions’ subs having begun the season as a regular in Kenny Jackett’s side, apparently due to the row.

In July, Blues boss Paul Jewell confirmed that Town had made offers for the ex-Reading man: "We had a bid for James Henry turned down by Millwall. That was the second bid we’ve put in.

"It’s been rejected by Millwall and they’ve told us he’s not for sale, so that’s probably dead that one, so we’re looking elsewhere.”

Town are still on the look-out for widemen and it’s likely Jewell will be monitoring any developments regarding Henry’s situation.

Meanwhile, Suffolk police's internal inquiry into the problems outside the ground at the derby has concluded that more training is required for such games.

A spokesperson said: "The report’s main recommendation is that a larger number of specially-trained officers should be deployed for future, similar key fixtures in order to prevent congestion of the route to and from Portman Road, as well as preventing public disorder.”
