Scotland Announces International Retirement - Ipswich Town News
Town striker Jason Scotland has announced his retirement from international football with Trinidad and Tobago to concentrate on playing for the Blues. The 32-year-old won 41 caps and scored eight goals, including a hat-trick in a 9-0 friendly victory over the Dominican Republic in 2008.
Scotland said: "I’ve decided to retire from international football to concentrate on my career with Ipswich. I’ve had a great time with Trinidad and Tobago and I wish them all the best in their quest to get to the next World Cup finals in Brazil.
"At the moment I just want to concentrate on Ipswich. I’m back in the team, we’re doing well and I’m really enjoying a new partnership with Michael Chopra. Helping Ipswich back into the Premier League is what I want to do and I need to concentrate all my efforts on that.”
Scotland’s last international was a World Cup qualifier against the US in September 2009 but his recent form for Town has led to speculation in the Caribbean that he could be recalled.
