Wabara Has Big City Future - Ipswich Town News
Blues boss Paul Jewell says Manchester City see prospective Town loan signing Reece Wabara as someone who will play in their first team in the years to come. Wabara is expected to join the Blues on a 93-day loan today.
Jewell said: "I spoke with [City coach] David Platt at length and they think he’ll be good enough for their team eventually.
"They want him to play at right-back and the lad wants to play at right-back - he’s happy to play anywhere.”
England U20 international Wabara has played much of his football at the centre of the defence but increasingly he is being viewed as a full-back: "I don’t think he’s quite big enough to play at centre-half.
"I’ve seen him play centre-half and I’ve seen him play at right-back and I think right-back is his position.”
Wabara spent yesterday travelling south and last night tweeted that he had completed his journey, although without specifically mentioning Ipswich: "Arrived at my destination, early start tomorrow. Goodnight all!"
Meanwhile, Jewell says there have been no new developments on the contract talks with the likes of skipper Grant Leadbitter and Josh Carson: "We’d like to sort them out but at the moment they haven’t been mentioned.”
