Town Swoop for Gudjohnsen? - Ipswich Town News

Town could once more be trying to bring Chelsea's Eidur Gudjohnsen to Portman Road. Reports from Iceland say his agent, Olafur Gardasson told Icelandic TV on Wednesday that Ipswich and other Premiership clubs have expressed an interest in the striker.

This is not the first time Town have been linked with the former PSV man. In the summer after promotion Town attempted to bring both Claus Jensen and Gudjohnsen from Bolton in an exchange deal. This failed to take place and Town failed to sign both players, Jensen after having a fee of £4 million accepted by Sam Allardyce's club. Gudjohnsen joined Chelsea for £5 million.

Gudjohnsen was linked again at the end of last season with rumours suggesting that Town actually went as far as making a bid on deadline day which Chelsea turned down.

This season Gudjohnsen has played little part for Claudio Ranieri's side, making appearances in just three Premiership games so far. A move could well be on the cards, whether to Ipswich or elsewhere.

Town could be in the market for another striker if Richard Naylor leaves as has been heavily rumoured.
