Collins Should Be Fine for Cardiff Trip - Ipswich Town News

Boss Paul Jewell says he’s confident that Danny Collins will be fit to take his place at the centre of the Town defence when the Blues travel to Cardiff on Saturday. The on-loan Stoke man pulled out of the Wales squad last week due to a groin injury he has been suffering with for a while.

Jewell said: "Danny had a problem with his groin earlier in the season. Where he has played a lot of games lately, after not playing much, the injury stiffened up a bit and it was a problem for him during the Brighton match.

"He didn't train at all last week but he's picked up over the last few days and he's looking OK for the weekend."

The Town manager says Jay Emmanuel-Thomas is less certain to be available to face the club with whom he was on loan last season: "JET has had an injection in his ankle and has been training with the physios.

"It's been a problem for him since the Leeds game and he turned his ankle again soon after he came on against Brighton.

"We are hoping he will train with the rest of the lads tomorrow and we will see how he is from there.”

New loan signing Reece Wabara also has a minor problem but Daryl Murphy and Lee Martin are over their hamstring and eye injuries: "Reece has a hamstring niggle after playing for the reserves against Watford but he should be training tomorrow and Daryl Murphy and Lee Martin are OK now as well."
