Cresswell Signs New Deal - Ipswich Town News

Left-back Aaron Cresswell has put pen to paper on a new Town contract taking him up to June 2015 with the option of a further season. The 21-year-old, who joined the Blues from Tranmere in the summer, has impressed this season with manager Paul Jewell describing him as “arguably our best player this year”.

Cresswell, who signed an initial three-year deal when he moved to Portman Road in July, says he is loving life with the Blues: "Obviously I'm delighted to have been offered and signed a new contract.

"I've really enjoyed my time at the club so far and feel that I'm progressing as a player. It's been a massive step up, coming here from Tranmere, but fortunately it has gone well so far and hopefully there will be many happy times ahead."

The Liverpudlian admits that he is disappointed to be ending his ever-present record by missing Saturday’s match at Millwall due to his red card against Crystal Palace: "I'm gutted to be out of the game but I have to learn from the setback.”

A tribunal recently set the compensation due to Tranmere for the Liverpool-born full-back at an initial £240,000 rising to £520,000 after various milestone clauses.
