Doncaster Rovers want to keep hold of striker Billy Sharp, according to agent Willie McKay, who is working as a transfer consultant with the Championship strugglers. Town and Southampton are both believed to have renewed their interest in the 25-year-old frontman, along with a number of other sides.
McKay said: "There have been enquiries for Billy Sharp but [manager] Dean Saunders wants to keep him. I believe up to eight clubs want Billy, but Dean does not want to lose him as he is a top player.
"We want to keep players like Billy Sharp and add players of Premier League quality to the squad to help galvanise the team.”
On Saturday, Doncaster chairman John Ryan revealed that his club need to raise cash to reduce an expected £3.6 million loss this season.
Sharp missed Doncaster’s weekend draw with Coventry due to what Rovers officially referred to as a "a family problem”.
