U18s Face Portsmouth - Ipswich Town News
Town’s U18s are in action against Portsmouth at the Wellington Sports Ground in Eastleigh on Saturday morning (KO 11am).
Thie match is unlikely to equal last week’s 3-3 draw at Southampton for drama or penalties with five awarded in the game, three missed, two by the Blues.
Skipper and right-back Callum Bennett scored one and missed one and evidently caught the eye, subsequently being the only player without a professional contract named in the reserves side which lost 2-1 to Arsenal on Tuesday.
Boss Paul Jewell says the former Kesgrave High School pupil has impressed him with his recent performances: "Callum has done well in the youth team of late and if people are doing well and making progress we want to try and test them a little bit higher up. He’s a second year scholar with a lot of ability.”
U18s: O’Donnell, Jones, October, Schrøder, Maduako, Thorsteinnson, Meikle, Bennett, Marriott, Simmons, Leddy, Lawrence, Cropper, Timlin, Winter, Scotcher.
