Academy pair Jide Maduako and Jack Marriott (pictured) were on target for the second time in three days and second-year pro Ronan Murray was also on the scoresheet as a Town reserves side beat Tottenham 3-1 in a friendly at their Spurs Lodge training ground this afternoon. Maduako and Marriott both netted as the U18s beat Portsmouth on Saturday.
Irish U21 international Murray put the Blues in front with a shot from the edge of the area, then central defender Maduako, an academy second-year scholar from London, nodded ex-Arsenal man Jay Emmanuel-Thomas's freekick home.
Marriott scored the third, adding to an impressive recent goals record. The first-year scholar from Kettering has netted a goal in each of his last five games for the U18s. All Town's goals came in 12 second-half minutes with Cameron Lancaster scoring the home side's consolation late on.
Coach Sean McCarthy had praise for veteran Mark Kennedy and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, who played 75 and 80 minutes respectively: "Sparky showed a great attitude, helping the youngsters throughout the game and Jet was the same.
"They would have played 90 minutes but we wanted to give some of the boys a run out. We finished the game with seven academy scholars on the pitch and that's great testament to the work Russell [Osman] is doing.
"Some of the youngsters have not played at this level before so games like this, against clubs of Tottenham's standing, are great experience for them."
Arran Lee-Barrett, Luke Hyam, Tommy Smith, Jack Ainsley, Callum Bennett, Jonny Leddy and Joe Whight were also amongst those in action for the Blues, while Spurs included ex-Town loanee Jake Livermore in their side.
