Andrews Confident Ireland Can Make Finals - Ipswich Town News

Midfielder Keith Andrews is confident that he and his Republic of Ireland team-mates are capable of beating Estonia in their two-legged Euro 2012 play-off. The 31-year-old starts for Ireland in Tallinn in Friday's first leg (Sky Sports One/HD1 7.30pm) with the second leg in Dublin next Tuesday (Sky Sports One/HD1 7pm).

Andrews said: "It’s two massive games for us. I think if we're all being honest it was the draw we would have wanted, but having said that we have got to pay them the utmost respect.

"They finished in the same place in their group as we did, they got a good points tally and they finished a few places above teams that would have been earmarked for a place in the finals by many people.

"But we're fully confident that if we produce the level of performance that we know we're capable of then we can do it over the two legs and qualify."

Andrews, who is on loan with the Blues from Blackburn until January, has previously won 24 caps, scoring two international goals, and has been confirmed as starting in the centre of Giovanni Trapattoni’s midfield.

Former Town skipper Jon Walters could also be in the line-up with Trapattoni yet to decide between the Stoke striker and West Brom's Simon Cox up front.

Republic of Ireland: Given (Aston Villa); Kelly (Fulham), Dunne (Aston Villa), St Ledger (Leicester City), Ward (Wolves); Duff (Fulham), Whelan (Stoke City), Andrews (Ipswich Town), McGeady (Spartak Moscow); Keane (LA Galaxy), Cox (West Brom) or Walters (Stoke City).
