Sonko to Miss Forest Trip - Ipswich Town News
Central defender Ibrahima Sonko is set to miss Saturday’s trip to Nottingham Forest due to the hamstring injury which kept him out of the home defeat to Doncaster. Better news is that Lee Bowyer, Nathan Ellington and Daryl Murphy are all closing in on a return to action.
In addition to Sonko, Damien Delaney is sidelined for around six weeks having undergone surgery on a stress fracture to his foot, so manager Paul Jewell says the Blues are likely to start with Ãvar Ingimarsson and Danny Collins at the heart of their defence at the City Ground: "As we stand at the minute, Ãvar and Danny will be our defensive partners for Saturday, as Damo and Sonks are still injured.
"Lee and Nathan are both back training, while Daryl was with the physio yesterday and will be with the fitness coach today, so he won't be too far away. If they are fit for Saturday then they could be in contention."
Bowyer had been suffering with back and hamstring problems and Ellington with a calf injury, while Murphy pulled a hamstring in the reserves defeat to Arsenal.
